The Regional and Urban Planning (PWK) Study Program at Tanjungpura University (UNTAN) began to be held based on a mandate from the Directorate General of Higher Education issued on July 10, 2013. The main purpose of this study program is to improve the quality of education and prepare human resources who have expertise in the field of regional and city planning, especially to meet the needs in West Kalimantan.

On April 3, 2018, the PWK UNTAN Study Program for the first time achieved accreditation with a “Good” rating from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT). In the next accreditation assessment process in 2023, this study program received an extension of accreditation status in the transition stage. After going through evaluation and improvement in various aspects, in 2024, the PWK UNTAN Study Program managed to improve its accreditation rating to “Excellent”. This achievement reflects the study program's commitment to continuously improve the quality of education and strengthen its contribution in the field of regional and urban planning, both at the local and national levels.
